Carbon Footprint

At HYDE Bar Galway, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact through a structured approach that includes metering, measuring, monitoring, evaluating, and managing our use of energy, water, and resources.

Through the introduction of LED lighting, ongoing food waste reduction initiatives, and the use of renewable and green energy where possible, we are taking meaningful steps to lower our carbon footprint.

Our sustainable purchasing policy further supports this mission. By sourcing the majority of our ingredients locally from Galway and the wider West of Ireland, we not only champion local producers but also significantly reduce transport-related emissions. These conscious efforts allow us to serve great food and drinks while caring for the planet and our community.


Conservation

At HYDE Bar Galway, we take a proactive approach to conserving energy and natural resources. Our sustainability practices include the use of energy-efficient systems such as LED lighting and advanced water management technology to reduce consumption and waste.

We actively minimise waste through comprehensive recycling and composting programmes, while our takeaway containers and coffee cups are fully biodegradable and environmentally responsible.

HYDE also continues to phase out single-use plastics, replacing them with reusable or recyclable alternatives wherever possible. Even our cleaning products are carefully selected for their biodegradable and eco-friendly properties, ensuring that every aspect of our operation supports a cleaner, greener Galway.

We also encourage guests to make mindful, environmentally conscious choices, such as opting out of straws or ordering only what they can enjoy. By promoting thoughtful consumption, HYDE fosters a culture of co-operation that benefits both our community and the planet.

Our dedication extends to staff education, encouraging everyone to embrace recycling, reusing, and thoughtful consumption to continue lowering landfill waste.

All waste is carefully separated into general, recycling, and compost streams, ensuring maximum efficiency and minimal environmental footprint. Used cooking oil is returned to suppliers for recycling and reuse, further supporting circular practices. We also actively avoid single-use plastics wherever possible, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to sustainability and greener hospitality in Galway.


Community

At HYDE Bar Galway, community lies at the heart of our sustainability efforts. We actively engage with local charities and initiatives to create a positive impact while fostering a shared commitment to greener practices.

We use our social channels to champion sustainability, sharing tips and inspiring our audience to make eco-conscious choices. Unwanted items are donated to local charities to support reuse and reduce waste.

HYDE also partners with the local community on projects such as beach cleans, litter picks, and city council initiatives, helping to keep Galway beautiful while strengthening connections with our neighbours.
