At HYDE, sustainability is at the heart of what we do. We’re committed to reducing our environmental impact, from responsible sourcing to energy-efficient operations across our Galway bar and hotel. We’re still early in our journey, but our team drives real progress every day, bringing fresh ideas and genuine care to building a greener, more sustainable HYDE for our guests and community.

CARBON FOOTPRINT

At HYDE Bar Galway, sustainability is central to what we do. We take a structured approach, metering, measuring and managing our energy, water and resource use. LED lighting, food waste reduction and renewable energy where possible all help lower our carbon footprint. By sourcing ingredients locally from Galway and the West of Ireland, we support local producers and cut transport emissions, serving great food and drinks while caring for the planet.

At HYDE Bar Galway, we take a proactive approach to conserving energy and natural resources. LED lighting and advanced water management technology help reduce consumption and waste, while recycling and composting programmes, biodegradable takeaway packaging, and a continued phase-out of single-use plastics keep us moving in the right direction. Even our cleaning products are chosen for their eco-friendly, biodegradable properties, supporting a cleaner, greener Galway.

Our clearly labelled recycling and composting stations make it easy for staff and guests to separate waste. We also encourage mindful choices, like opting out of straws or ordering only what you’ll enjoy, fostering a culture of co-operation that benefits our community and the planet.

Commitment

At HYDE Bar Galway, we’re fully committed to reducing our environmental impact through conscious energy use, waste minimisation and sustainable practices. Staff education encourages recycling, reusing and thoughtful consumption to lower landfill waste. All waste is separated into general, recycling and compost streams, used cooking oil is returned to suppliers for reuse, and we actively avoid single-use plastics wherever possible.
