Our Green Policy

Here at HYDE, we are passionate about sustainability. We are committed to making a positive impact on the environment by implementing effective green practices and procedures throughout both our bar and hotel. Although we are at the start of our ‘Green’ journey, we are excited for the road ahead.

Our fantastic staff are key to our success in delivering a more sustainable and environmentally friendly service. Their invaluable input, insight and engagement is at the core of our achievements to date. We have already introduced many initiatives and new ideas are emerging and evolving daily.

Carbon Footprint

At HYDE Bar, sustainability is woven into our daily operations as we strive to reduce our environmental impact. We follow a comprehensive process—metering, measuring, monitoring, evaluating, and managing our use of resources such as waste, water, energy, and carbon emissions.

By implementing LED lighting, reducing food waste through careful tracking, and opting for green energy where possible, we are making conscious choices to minimize our footprint.

Our green purchasing policy also reflects our commitment to sustainability, with most of our food sourced locally from Galway and surrounding areas, supporting regional producers and reducing transport-related emissions.

Conservation

At HYDE, we conserve resources through energy-efficient systems, including LED lighting and advanced water conservation measures. We also minimise waste by separating recyclables, composting, and using biodegradable takeaway containers and coffee cups.

Additionally, we aim to limit plastic use, avoiding single-use plastics where possible. When cleaning, we use biodegradable, environmentally-friendly cleaning products.

Co-Operation

At HYDE, we adopt innovative sustainability practices, constantly adapting and embracing new ideas to lessen our environmental impact. Our waste management program provides waste separation facilities accessible to both staff and guests, encouraging thoughtful disposal of recyclables and compostables.

We also inspire guests to make small, eco-friendly choices, like skipping straws with drinks and ordering only what they intend to consume, helping to minimise waste and promote conscious consumption.

Commitment

To be fully engaged in the reduction of our energy consumption and waste production through dedication, education, reducing & reusing. We aim to continue to reduce our landfill waste.

We follow a strict waste separation policy with all waste segregated into general, recycling and compost.

Our cooking oil is returned to our supplier after use in order for it to be recycled and reused.

We do not use single use plastics where at all possible.

Community

At HYDE Bar, community is at the heart of our sustainability journey. We actively engage with local charities and sponsorships to make a positive impact, working together with a shared purpose.

Through our social media channels, we promote green practices, championing sustainability to inspire our audience. We also donate old and unwanted items to charity, supporting reuse and reducing waste.

In partnership with our community, we take part in local efforts like beach cleans, litter picks, and city council initiatives, all to keep our surroundings beautiful and clean.
